Maryam Qudus - Biography

Maryam Qudus
Associate Instructor

Maryam Qudus started studying voice at RGVS as a young teenager, intent on becoming a professional vocalist/musician. She was featured on our annual Student Showcase in 2008 and 2010 and went through RGVS's teacher training program before attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she studied voice with Carrie Cheron, Jeannie Gagne, and Gwendolyn Leathers, and songwriting with Pat Pattinson. She quickly became well known among her fellow students with her ability to help them with their voices, and discovered her own passion for teaching. Now back in the Bay Area, she joins the RGVS team as a Junior Associate while continuing her studies at San Francisco State University.

Before leaving to Berklee, Maryam went into the studio to record an EP of her songs, which put her music career under the name "Doe Eye" on the fast track. She was immediately added to rotation on Live 105, named one of Live 105's Top 20 Bands of 2011, became Fuse TV's Unsigned Artist of the Month in November of 2011 with her hit single "I Hate You", charted at #8 on Hype Machine in January of 2012, was Alternative Press' Artist of the Month in May 2012, the West Coast Finalist of Billboard's Battle of the Bands 2012, and received a full page spread in the May 2012 edition of Billboard Magazine.

She has just released her second EP, "Hotel Fire", and is already receiving critical acclaim. You can find out all about her music on her website.

Maryam has a natural talent for identifying vocal issues and continues to study with Rocío while further developing her teaching skills, in addition to offering invaluable experience in today's "do it yourself" market for Independent Artists.

She is available for lessons at RGVS Saturdays through Tuesdays.
