"I was deeply honored when asked to participate on the RGVS 2009 Spotlight CD. I have never recorded in a studio before, so this was a totally new adventure for me. It was awesome from the very moment I stepped into The Annex. I loved every microsecond of it. The whole experience felt so comfortable and seemed to fit like a glove that I didn't want to take off. It felt that good only because Rocío had me so well prepared for the day. Although I was alone in the sound room, when I stepped up to that mic, everything that Rocío had taught me over the years, in preparation for this, had stepped up to the mic along with me. I wasn't alone through any of this. If it had not been for Rocío and her studio, I probably would have freaked out and run out from the building!"

When Skip retired from the active working world, he decided to try something new: singing. We will never forget the exact words he used when he first contacted us: "I couldn't hit a note if it was painted on the side of a barn with a shotgun." That was not quite accurate; he did indeed have a good sense of pitch. However, there was a portion of his range between his lower and upper ranges that, well, simply wasn't! He had about an octave "hole" in his voice. He could sing really low, or really high, but his middle had disappeared completely. Over the course of his training we closed the hole, connected the top to the bottom, strengthened his voice overall, and now you'd never know he ever had a quite significant vocal issue. Additionally, he has become sort of a local Karaoke king, hosting Karaoke nights and being asked by several bands to join them as a singer, and enjoys singing immensely. The song we chose for his Showcase has him singing right through the part of his range that used to be the "void". Go Skip!!
